Role and Opportunity Details (Volunteers must be18+ to apply)

Volunteer Administrator.

Family Welfare is a long established charity providing free, independent, and confidential counselling, advocacy, and community development services to people across the Wigan Borough.  Our services are available to adults, young people, and children aged 5 and over.

Our counsellors and advocates work Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and we are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support our administration team.  As a Volunteer Administrator, you will help keep our services running smoothly by supporting the team with a range of office-based tasks.

Depending on your skills and interests, duties may include:

  • Answering telephone calls and taking messages.
  • Responding to basic enquiries and directing people to the appropriate member of staff.
  • Filing, scanning, photocopying, and organising paperwork.
  • Data entry and maintaining accurate records.
  • Preparing information packs and other resources.
  • Supporting the team with general administrative duties as required.

No previous administration experience is required.  We are looking for people who are organised, willing to learn, and enjoy working as part of a team.  Full training and ongoing support will be provided, and if you would like to take on additional responsibilities over time, we will be happy to support your development.

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Organised and able to manage a range of administrative tasks.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional.
  • Good communicators with both face-to-face and telephone enquiries.
  • Comfortable using a computer and willing to learn new systems.
  • Respectful of privacy and confidentiality.
  • Reliable, accurate, and able to work as part of a team.

Date(s) / Time(s) Required

We ask volunteers to commit to the role for a minimum of six months.  This helps us provide consistency for our team and enables volunteers to gain confidence and make the most of their experience.

Dates and Times –  We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 1 day per week.

Volunteer shifts can be arranged between Monday and Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and we will work with you to agree a regular day and time that suits both you and the organisation wherever possible.
