Do you have an hour or two to spare each week? Could you support local children with their developing their reading skills?
Schoolreaders volunteers are matched with a local primary school where they visit weekly and listen to children read individually to help improve their reading and comprehension skills and also foster a love of reading. Reading for pleasure at a young age has a significant impact in how children are able to access their secondary education and also on their future life chances.
Specific Skills Required
Our volunteers do not need any specific skills or prior experience but they do need to have good written and spoken English.

Level of commitment required
Ongoing Volunteer Opportunity.
Date(s) / Time(s) Required
1 hour per week on a day and time that suits the volunteer. This will be during the school day and term time only. We ask that our volunteers commit to visiting their matched school for a full year but holidays and appointments can be taken during this time.
