Carers Connect Outreach Workers 

Carers Connect Outreach Workers –

  • Help to reduce social isolation for unpaid carers.
  • Participate in local outreach meetings across the Wigan Borough.
  • Build friendships and be a positive support network.
  • Welcome and support people who are caring for a relative, friend or neighbour.
  • Support facilitation of groups to deliver a diverse activity programme to carers and young carers.
  • Provide information, guidance and signposting.
  • Deliver refreshments, offer a listening ear and friendly face to unpaid carers.
  • Support unpaid carers and young carers with diverse issues that can affect their lives such as reducing loneliness and isolation.

 

Specific Skills Required

  • Knowledge of issues affecting unpaid carers.
  • Practical listening skills and good communication skills with both adults and young people.
  • High level of commitment, reliability, honesty and patience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Tactful and able to deal with information sensitively and confidentially.
  • Able to work within professional boundaries.
  • Hones, reliable and trustworthy.

2-3 hours per session.  Flexible days, Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm.

Outreach across Wigan Borough in coffee shops, community centres, libraries, etc.
