Role and Opportunity Details (to apply for this role you must be16+), children under 16 can accompany a parent or guardian. 16 and up can attend on their own.

Towpath Taskforce – Wigan

Would you like to meet new people in Wigan?  We run this regular hands-on volunteering session on the canal in Wigan and are always on the lookout for new people.

The session takes place on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Wigan in different places each time.

Tasks can include –

  • Vegetation works.
  • Litter picking.
  • General towpath maintenance.

We meet at 10am until approx. 2pm every Tuesday.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing which you don’t mind getting dirty and sturdy shoes.

We’ll provide all the tools and equipment needed to do the task.

You may want to bring your own flask or water bottle and a packed lunch or snack depending on how long you’re staying.

We are the Canal & River Trust, the waterways and wellbeing charity and we look after 2000 miles of waterways across England & Wales.

 

Specific Skills Required

No special skills are needed for this opportunity.

We are looking for volunteers who are happy to get stuck into a task but everyone works at their own pace.
